Purify the air with the EnviroKlenz Air Purifier Plus system – Mother Earth News

Whether it’s removing harmful viruses in your home, allergens, mold spores, or VOCs, an EnviroKlenz Plus air purifier system can help purify the air.

The EnviroKlenz Air Purifier Plus system is safe for everyone in the family.

With each new environmental disaster – forest fires, floods, Covid-19 mutations or drought-induced dust storms – that hits the headlines, my wife Lisa Kivirist and I double down on our emergency preparedness efforts. emergency and our self-reliance initiatives.

We don’t wait for politicians to admit the truth – if they ever will – about the kinds of changes we need to make to deal with the realities of climate change – or the covid-19 pandemic. We have known for a long time that we are the ones we seek to lead. We, and thousands of others in our communities, are looking for ways to be more empowered, resilient, and more locally connected.

As farmers living on a 100+ year old farmhouse, we recognize and alleviate basement moisture and mold issues that sometimes become evident. As we heat with wood in an airtight Lopi Endeavor wood stove, dust and particles are part of the process when we occasionally empty the efficient wood stove of ashes (the ashes go to growing fields, of course!). We have always been sensitive to the quality of indoor air because allergies and asthma are a part of our lives, like millions of others.

But the covid-19 pandemic, and the Omicron variant with its super transmissibility, has prompted us to act. For our approximately 1,900 square foot home, we use approximately 1,000 square feet of it as our regular living space: for a home office, bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, and living room. So how can we make this living space as healthy as possible? How do you purify the air by removing as many bacteria, viruses, allergens, mold spores, VOCs or harmful particles as possible? An airtight house, this farm is not, which prevents the air from stagnating. But how can we return the air circulating in the house to make our indoor living spaces healthier?

Clean our indoor air with the EnviroKlenz Plus air purifier

We should have deployed the EnviroKlenz air purifier system years ago. After ordering, the device arrived in less than a week. Installation did not require any tools. We’ve just inserted two UV bulbs into the unit and slipped through one of the two filters. Within three days of operation, the air in our main room on the first floor – an open plan layout that included our kitchen, dining room, and living room – was noticeably more refreshed and contained less dust circulating around.

The EnviroKlenz Air Purifier Plus system draws air from the top, then pulls it down through the first of two filters, the EnviroKlenz Air Cartridge, a proprietary NanoActive air cartridge that uses safe earth minerals to accomplish its “absorption neutralization” of potentially harmful chemicals. , pollutants, bacteria, molds or pollens. The air continues downward, passing through a true medical grade HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) second stage filter before being exhausted, odorless, into the room. A set of two indoor UV lamps, which can be turned on and off, face down on the HEPA filter to provide germicidal irradiation and internal cleaning.

For a space of 1000 square feet, the air will be renewed about three to five times per hour. The compact 16-inch by 16-inch metal cube, approximately 22 inches high, just needs to be placed in an area to optimize airflow through the device. Because the EnviroKlenz does not use any masking agents or abrasive chemicals as well as a secure metal enclosure, it can be used safely in homes with small children or pets. For the sake of transparency, full third-party testing of the EnviroKlenz Air Purifier Plus system for viruses, bacteria and other harmful substances can be viewed on its website.

Due to the covid-19 pandemic, we have become particularly sensitive to regular air purification to reduce the likelihood that the aerosol of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes covid-19, will linger. in the air. The unit has been independently tested and proven to remove 99.9% of viruses; the virus specifically tested (coliphage phix174; pre-covid) was 0.025 microns. Although the unit has not yet been specifically tested on SARS-CoV-2, we breathe easier, as most current epidemiological studies suggest that the SARS-CoV-2 virus is 0.125 microns in size, sometimes ranging from 0.07 to 0.13 microns. HEPA filters are known for their ability to effectively capture viruses – and any aerosolized saliva and mucus droplets that might contain them – once they’re sucked inside. Of course, this is just one of the many mitigation steps we’ve taken to try and stay healthy.

Depending on the size of the space or room, we can control the amount of air moved with a 4 speed fan dial. It also provides a way to manage the noise level of the device, with the lowest speed providing a nearly silent fan. Because the unit weighs 38 pounds and rolls easily on wheels, we could move it to different floors to solve different indoor air quality issues. In our basement we have more problems with humidity, mold and fungus. On the second floor we find more pollen and dust since we usually have our windows open during most of the hot summer season to cool and ventilate the house.

Some like to say that you pay for what you get. We’re not interested in cutting corners that could prevent serious illnesses for our families and dramatically improve the quality of our indoor air. In addition, the manufacturer, Timilon Technology Acquisitions, backs their product with a 5 year manufacturer warranty for the EnviroKlenz Air Purifier Plus system. We have always given priority to investing in sustainability, one of the hallmarks of sustainability. The fact that the product is made in the United States prevents our investment money from flowing into the United States, instead of going overseas to China.

No regular maintenance is required. However, in about 2 years we will need to replace the HEPA filter; about 6 months, for the EnviroKlenz air cartridge filter. That’s fine with us, because it’s proof that it does what it’s supposed to do – make our indoor living space safer, healthier and more comfortable.
