New Pavilion, Upcoming Summer Events at Hampton NH Lane Library

HAMPTON – Patrons of the Lane Memorial Library might wonder about the large white tent that will be set up next week on the lawn next door.

No, the city does not have weekly barbecues, it is the new outdoor summer pavilion of the library. Guests will be invited to attend a variety of free summer events hosted by the library in the pavilion and to reserve the pavilion for gatherings of small clubs or associations.

The pavilion was made possible by a generous bequest from Phillip M. Wasylean II with the support of Tobey & Merrill Insurance. The temporary structure will be installed on the lawn next to the library’s playground until August 6. The pavilion has been approved for this summer by the library’s board of trustees and the board of trustees. The pavilion will be large, with plenty of space to spread out.

There are summer plans that should appeal to all ages of library users. These include tours of Wildlife Encounters and NHSPCA for families, an introduction to beekeeping, pollinator-friendly gardening, and pet first aid for all ages. Kids can sign up for a magic class, while tweens and teens can sign up for Minecraft and art camps.

For adults, local author Bonnar Spring will talk about writing her novels. Everyone is invited to a live show for the whole family with musician Ragtime Jack and our giant chalk mural community project.

Storytelling hours will be offered two days a week, and there will be reading programs for all ages with prizes. Due to health and safety considerations, many events are by registration only, which will be available on the library website or by calling the library.
