The sixth edition of the Mahaseel festival is expected to start on Monday in the southern area of Katara – the cultural village, offering a wide range of local agricultural products.
The event is organized in cooperation with the Department of Agricultural Affairs of the Ministry of Municipality. According to a press release from Katara, the festival will bring together 38 companies specializing in the food industry and agricultural production.
The festival will continue until March 12 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Mahaseel Souq will continue to operate on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays of each week until May 15.
This year’s festival and souk will see the participation of a group of major domestic companies in the food production industry, as well as Qatari farms and nurseries. The festival supports local products from the food and agricultural sectors in addition to supporting agricultural production in Qatar.
Mahaseel is of great economic importance as it encourages local agricultural production and offers high quality agricultural crops and food products including vegetables, fruits, dates, honey, milk, dairy products, cheese and fresh meat, the statement noted.
The initiative focuses on the growing volume of agricultural and food products and markets the products of Qatari farms which have gained high profile and good reputation – while being available at competitive prices – as a result of the support provided by the country’s leaders to Qataris agriculture, local food production and livestock, with the aim of ensuring the sustainability of this economic sector.
Also, the festival is an ideal marketing platform through which the best crops and fresh agricultural products from Qatari companies and products from domestic farms are showcased. These include vegetables, fruits, dates, honey, milk, cheese and natural juices, in addition to sheep meat and poultry, as well as nursery products. Flowers and ornamental plants for vegetable gardens are sold during the festival.
