Two local nonprofits have teamed up to create a fun and educational day out for families in Falmouth. The sixth annual Pollinator Parade brought families together to celebrate creatures like bees, butterflies, ladybugs, hummingbirds and bats. Families were invited by Birth Roots to dress up as their favorite pollinators and experience Maine Audobon’s Gilsland Farm Preserve. Birth Roots Founder Leah Deragon says this event is most important for toddlers and preschoolers, “so that from earliest memories, the idea of taking action on behalf of meaningful things that care about can be fun and include a picnic and a parade”. missed the sold-out event, you can still visit the Gilsland Farm Education Center, which is open daily. The Gilsland Farm Nature Store is also open, with sales benefiting Audobon’s conservation and environmental education mission.
