Meteorologist Myles Henderson’s first warning forecast

Return to the summer heat and humidity… Watch out for the areas of scattered fog this morning. Expect a nice mix of mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies today. An isolated downpour or thunderstorm could occur this afternoon, but rain will not be widespread. Highs will warm to the upper 80s today, near normal for this time of year. The weather will be humid, pushing the afternoon heat index into the low and mid-90s.

Prepare for a period of hot and humid days. The highs will warm to the 90s lows for the rest of the week. The afternoon heat index will hit the upper 90 degrees on Tuesday and approach 100 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Expect a mixture of sun and cloud each day with an afternoon “pop-up” downpour or possible storms. The risk of showers and thunderstorms will increase for the end of the work week and the weekend as a cold front sets in.

Tropical update
A low pressure system located approximately 380 miles ESE of the Leeward Islands. Environmental conditions should be right for some development over the next few days, and a tropical low could form as the low moves towards the WNW at around 15 mph. The disturbance is expected to reach parts of the Lesser Antilles by late overnight, then move near the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on Tuesday and be near Hispaniola by the middle of this week.

An elongated low pressure area located approximately 1000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. Development of this system becomes less likely over the next few days as it moves west towards WSW at around 10 mph.
