Thunderstorms were forecast for parts of Essex today (May 4). Heavy rain showers and overcast skies are expected to hit the county before the thunderstorms hit.
Thunder and lightning has been forecast for north and west Essex, according to the Met Office, as bad weather is expected to plague Essex for the rest of the week. Temperatures are expected to be relatively warm, however, with county highs of 16°C and lows of 7°C.
The Met Office weather forecast for the east of England, which includes Essex, says: “A little rain on Wednesday morning will turn into showers in the afternoon with some sunshine developing. The showers afternoon should be muggy with a chance of thunder. Feel warmer . Maximum temperature 18C.”
