A pet owner has found a brilliant but simple solution to effectively cutting his dog’s nails at home after transforming a reusable grocery bag into a harness.

Honey, the Italian Greyhound, who lives in Queensland with her owner Luke Young and her partner Ashleigh, was caught on camera getting her fingernails cut while hanging from the doggy bag, which was hanging from a hook in the patio.

The owner had strategically cut holes in the green eco bag so that his puppy’s paws and head could fit comfortably during his grooming session.

The TikTok video titled “How to Trim Your Dog’s Nails 101” shows Honey looking calm as her legs hang down below her, making it easier for Ashleigh to cut her nails without any fuss.

Shortly before finding the solution, Luke said that they tried to cut her nails in the “conventional way”, but Honey was having a hard time staying still.

“She would spread her legs and try to escape my grip.” It was very difficult to cut her nails without holding her, ”Luke told Daily Mail Australia.

“We really didn’t want to make it a big deal, otherwise the next time we try to cut it it would be even more difficult.”

And so they decided to make a dog harness using a Woolworths shopping bag.

“We cut out a few holes to make sure all of its limbs would fit comfortably, making sure all the weight was supported evenly,” said Luke.

“As you can see in the video, she wasn’t agitated at all, she was really happy to be there, she didn’t move or try to pull her legs out. We didn’t notice any signs of discomfort during the process or we would have immediately removed it.

“We love our animals and would never do anything to make them uncomfortable.”

The video has since been viewed over 400,000 times, and many pet owners have said they want to try this trick after struggling to cut their dog’s nails.

“My Italian Greyhounds are terrified of nail clippers… I have to try this,” one wrote, while another said: “Oh my god, I stopped trying to cut them. my dog’s nails after getting one before it locks in. I’ll try that tomorrow.

“It’s actually perfect,” said another, while one added, “Awesome… just awesome.”

However, many pet owners have pointed out that the method only works on small dogs.

“If only I could do this for my Dalmatians,” one said.

‘Gold! But I’m going to need a bigger bag, ”wrote another, while one said,“ My dog would break this bag… and the roof.

While a woman joked, “Do you think my Labrador could fit in a Woolies bag?”
