Juneteenth in the fruit

The Orange community presents “Juneteenth in the Fruit” a holiday celebration of Juneteenth
Orange, Texas – The community of Orange, Texas will host the second annual “Juneteenth in the Fruit” celebration. The celebration will take place on June 19, 2021 at the Riverfront Pavilion in Orange. The event will showcase and promote local vendors and artists. The Orange Chapter of the NAACP will organize a membership drive. Community members are encouraged to join the NAACP for only $ 30. This event is free and open to the public.
Community members are encouraged to come to the Riverfront Pavilion between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Please bring garden chairs, blankets, tents, etc. and buy from local vendors while enjoying the food and entertainment. A fun zone for children will be included.

Cowboy Church of Orange County Vacation Bible School

Orange County Cowboy Church’s first Holiday Bible School in their new children’s building will be held July 13-14, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year’s theme is “Pest Hunt”. There will be indoor and outdoor activities. Lunch and snacks provided. Online registration is now open on the Facebook page: Cowboy Church of Orange County Children’s Church. This event is free.

Holiday Bible School

First United Methodist Church – Orange (502 N. Sixth Street) invites you to their Vacation Bible School, Rocky Railway. VBS will take place from June 28 to July 1. Hours are 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and we anticipate that breakfast will be served from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., provided by West Orange Cove CISD. VBS is intended for children aged 4 to 5. Security protocols will be followed due to COVID, such as social distancing, hand sanitizers in every room and with every leader, and also cleaning tables after every rotation. Masks are optional. Activities will include biblical story, music, crafts, fantasy (science) station, games and snacks. To register your child, please use the online registration: vbspro.events/p/0a4d8b. Food Security Conference

Orange County Environmental Health and Code Compliance and Texas AgriLife Extension Service in Orange County are teaming up to present a free 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. food safety conference on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at the Orange County Convention & Expo Center, 11475 FM 1442 in Orange. The event will feature speakers, a continental breakfast, lunch, door prizes, vendors as well as hands-on activities, a panel discussion, active shooting scenarios, rodent control, hood maintenance and speakers from the health department. Course on food handlers offered for $ 20 from 3 pm to 5 pm Registration deadline July 10, 2020. To register, go to: orange.agrilife.org and click on the Registration link.

Save the dates for this year’s Orange Lions Club Charity Carnival which runs from June 19, June 23 to June 26, and June 30 to July 3.

The summer 2021 reading program at the Orange Public Library is from Wednesday to July 21 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am

Online auction fundraising

Orange County United Way Online Auction Begins Next Week! The auction will take place from June 16 to 30.
We wanted to contact you one last time to see if your business has an item or package to donate. We would like to have a variety of items so that there is something for everyone. We also hope to have packages like beach packages, sports packages etc. (Lower value donated items can be combined with other items to make a package.) Please contact us if you have anything to donate so we can coordinate a pickup time. We would like to have all the items in our office by Friday June 11th.

Collection of school supplies

Gate City Guild # 42 is holding a school supplies drive to collect the supplies needed for the 2021-2022 school year. Drop off your supplies until July 15 at Weinershnitzel at 2420 MacArthur Drive in Orange or at The Orange Leader at 1008 Green Ave. in Orange.

Training course for master gardeners

Orange County Master Gardeners are accepting applications for their next initial training course which will begin in September 2021, date to be determined. The majority of classes will be held Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. / 8:30 p.m. at the Orange County EXPO Center, 11475 FM 1442, Orangefield. There will be lessons on Saturday and field trips during the session. The cost of the course is $ 150 and will include your training manual, speaker fees, and supplies. Anger Management Course

Wells of Agape runs anger management classes from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13 at the Family Worship Center located at 2300 41st Street (former Bancroft school) in Orange, Texas. Enter on the right side of the building by the Wells of agape sign. (room 35). Go to www.wellsofagape.org click on courses and services, then on Anger management to register. You can pay with the Donate button. It is $ 40 per person (non-refundable). Where it says “write a note,” just type in the names of who you’re paying and the anger management class so we know it’s not a donation. You should do this before the 1st classify. You must attend all 3 courses to receive a certificate of completion.

Southeast Texas retreats

Southeast Texas Stand Down is designed to bring together a wide range of pre-existing specialist resources in one place to help veterans and homeless veterans alike.

The event is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday July 23 at the Church of God of Orange located at 1911 North 16e Orange Street.

WO-S Fillies car wash

The WO-S Fillies Carwash fundraising event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 24 at Weinershnitzel at 2420 MacArthur Drive in Orange.

First Presbyterian Church, 902 Green Ave. in Orange, hosts a soup kitchen from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Recycle, recycle, recycle

Keep Orange County Beautiful and Trashy Ladies are encouraging residents to register for recycling at https://recyclops.com/locations/texas/orange/ No need to sort, just pack your clean recyclables in their bags and they’ll take care of the rest.

Orange County Beekeepers Group Meetings

Meetings are suspended pending COVID-19 resolution. The Orange County beekeeper group normally meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. Anyone interested in bees or beekeeping is welcome to join us on Facebook, search for Orange Texas Beekeepers.

We are a group of local beekeepers interested in disseminating information about bees and the pollination service they perform. This group is working with the Orange County Agricultural Officer to expand beekeeping opportunities in Orange. We also strive to help and assist fellow beekeepers, new beekeepers and the general public.

The Orange County Radio Control Club meets every Tuesday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the club’s airfield located at 10623 Farm to Market Road 1442 in Orange. Guests are welcome as long as club members are present. Learn more about building and flying remote control planes with other enthusiasts.
