Activist sportswear brand XX-XY Athletics saw a surge in popularity during Super Bowl weekend, thanks to a year-old commercial that went viral. The ad, titled 'Real Girls Rock', was initially shared on social media by J.K. Rowling, sparking initial traction. However, it was the brand's founder, Jennifer Sey, who decided to recirculate the ad, leading to a massive increase in views and sales. The ad features ambassadors who have stood up for women's sports, facing vulgar hate comments and liberal media backlash. It stars OuKick host Riley Gaines and former University of Nevada volleyball player Sia Liilii. Sey, a former marketing executive and U.S. champion gymnast, expressed pride in the ad, crediting Sen. Ted Cruz for its resurgence. Despite the company's success, Sey doesn't aspire to run ads during the Super Bowl, citing the declining prestige of the event and the high costs involved. She criticized this year's Super Bowl ads for relying on celebrity appearances, stating that it doesn't work.
