Get ready, matcha lovers! TheOther, a brand dedicated to premium matcha, made a splash at Art Basel in Miami with an exclusive event that blended Japanese tradition with modern luxury. TheOther officially launched with an intimate, multi-sensory dinner at Forte Dei Marmi, followed by an after-party at SOPRA Club in Miami Beach.
Co-hosted by the British rapper Central Cee, the event was a celebration of TheOther Master’s Blend. This unique matcha is a first-harvest blend crafted in collaboration with a Japanese tea-growing family with over five generations of experience. Guests, including TheOther's Co-Founders Michael Lillelund and Harish Koneru, experienced a modern twist on the traditional tea ceremony. They enjoyed curated tastings designed to showcase the brand's signature combination of authentic tradition and accessible luxury. The evening featured signature cocktails with the Master's Blend, including a refined Matcha Martini, a Matcharita (featuring 818 Tequila), a Matcha Mojito, and a Highball.
The event drew a crowd of notable figures from the worlds of fashion, art, and culture. Attendees included Ghali, Christina “Tinx” Najjar, Sofia Resing, Casey Boonstra, Elizabeth Lake, Adelina Novak, Jesse Solomon, Victoria Vesce, and Mike Majlak, among others.
Michael Lillelund, Co-founder and President of TheOther, shared his vision: “We chose Forte dei Marmi and SOPRA because they embody the refined, modern spirit that sits at the heart of TheOther. Miami’s creative pulse meets timeless Japanese elegance here, making it the perfect place to introduce TheOther to the world.”
Harish Koneru, Co-Founder and CEO of TheOther, added, “The balance of heritage and modernity lives in every detail of tonight’s experience. From the beginning, our goal was to honor centuries of matcha tradition while bringing its ritual into a contemporary, culturally dynamic space.”
But here's where it gets interesting... TheOther is now available online at TheOther.com, and a Miami café is planned to open in early next year.
And this is the part most people miss... Each TheOther product includes a Renoon-powered QR code. This code reveals the origin and story of the tea leaves, allowing customers to connect with the product's journey.
In a nutshell: TheOther is a premium matcha brand offering ceremonial-grade, first-harvest matcha sourced directly from Uji, Japan. The brand aims to bring a fresh approach to matcha, blending Japanese tea tradition with modern sensibilities. TheOther is available online and will soon open a flagship café in Miami.
