Sojana, the Green Marine Racing Ketch: A Luxury Yacht Sold (2025)

The iconic sailing yacht Sojana has found a new owner, marking a significant change in the world of luxury yachting. But who is the lucky buyer, and what's the story behind this remarkable vessel?

This 35-meter Green Marine yacht, Sojana, was recently sold in a well-facilitated deal. Nicolas Marchand from Bernard Gallay Yacht Brokerage represented the seller, while Hank Halsted of Northrop & Johnson introduced the buyer, whose identity remains undisclosed.

Sojana is a custom-built high-performance ketch, crafted by the renowned racing yacht designers, Farr Yacht Design. The brief was clear: create the longest and fastest yacht that could be managed by the owner and a small crew of friends. And they delivered! This yacht can cruise with just five core crew members but is also fully equipped to accommodate a larger race crew when needed.

And this is where it gets intriguing... Sojana's performance is truly exceptional. She underwent a comprehensive cosmetic and technical refit in 2016, followed by significant upgrades in 2022 and 2023. These included a new engine, serviced generators, and state-of-the-art sailing equipment. With her North Sails 3Di sails, Hall Spars carbon rigging, and B&G H5000 electronics, she's a force to be reckoned with on the racecourse.

Her racing prowess is evident in her impressive regatta history. Sojana has dominated events like the St. Barths Bucket, Antigua Sailing Week, and Palma Superyacht Cup. Under the late Sir Peter Harrison's ownership, she amassed a remarkable record of sailing triumphs.

Stepping inside, Sojana's interior exudes classic yachting elegance. Designed by Ken Freivokh, it features dark mahogany paneling and gold-plated fittings. The accommodation is spacious, offering room for eight guests across four cabins, including two doubles, a twin, and a cozy "kids' cabin." The main saloon is a warm and inviting space with built-in seating, comfortable sofas, and a bright dining area.

Onboard, guests can enjoy modern amenities such as air-conditioning, Apple TV, a SONOS sound system, and even a sparkling water machine. Sojana's cruising speed is an impressive 10 knots under power, and she's said to be "several knots faster" when sailing.

This yacht was last listed for €3,500,000, a price that reflects her exceptional qualities. But here's the question: What adventures await Sojana's new owner, and will they continue her legacy of racing success? The yachting world eagerly awaits the next chapter in Sojana's story.
