Siri's Long-Awaited Makeover: Will It Be Worth the Wait?
Are you eagerly awaiting the next-gen Siri that Apple promised over a year ago? Well, get ready to wait even longer. According to a new report, the long-delayed Siri revamp may not arrive until iOS 27.
Apple initially planned to introduce new Siri functionality with iOS 26.4 in March, but sources say the company is now considering spreading out features across software iterations. This means we might see some features in iOS 26.5 in May, with further enhancements arriving alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a foldable iPhone in September.
Apple first announced plans for Siri's overhaul via Apple Intelligence at WWDC 2024, but the project has been delayed several times amid development issues. At WWDC 2025, Apple said to expect the new Siri in 2026, but internally, the company was reportedly targeting March 2026. These delays may push the release even further out.
Sources say the in-development Siri doesn't always properly process queries, and there are reports that the tool sometimes takes too long to handle requests. Apple executives have previously said they'd rather delay than 'disappoint customers.'
The new features are thought to improve awareness across iPhone, enabling the assistant to interact with multiple apps at the same time. An example showed Siri finding a photo of a driver's license in Apple Photos to extract the ID number and add it to the relevant section of a form.
But here's where it gets controversial... Some are questioning whether Apple is rushing to release a less-than-perfect Siri, or taking its time to ensure a truly groundbreaking experience. And this is the part most people miss... The delays could be due to Apple's commitment to quality, but they also raise questions about the timeline for AI-driven advancements in the smartphone market.
