OP2B's New Leadership: Accelerating Regenerative Agriculture in Europe (2026)

OP2B strengthens its leadership and mission with strategic appointments amid Europe’s agricultural turning point. The organization announces two new Co-Chairs: Jan Derck van Karnebeek, CEO of Royal FrieslandCampina, and Ewan Andrew, President of Global Supply and Chief Sustainability Officer at Diageo. Their extensive expertise in supply-chain transformation, performance-based sustainability, and cross-sector collaboration will be pivotal as OP2B advances its work to support European farmers, reward environmental performance, and accelerate the shift to regenerative agriculture.

OP2B brings together 25 global companies committed to expanding regenerative farming practices that help farmers stay resilient, protect nature, and strengthen supply chains. Since its founding in 2019, OP2B has promoted regenerative agriculture principles and aligned companies around results-based indicators to catalyze collective investment and action across production basins.

The appointment of van Karnebeek and Andrew occurs at a critical juncture, with major steps shaping the next Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) anticipated over the coming year. These decisions will influence how Europe supports farmers, rewards environmental performance, and accelerates regenerative practices. OP2B aims to transform 40 million hectares toward regenerative methods by 2030, entering the CAP debate with renewed leadership focused on practical, farmer-centered solutions. These solutions align with ongoing conversations about incorporating soil health, water quality, biodiversity outcomes, and long-term resilience into agricultural support frameworks.

Both leaders bring a track record of driving supply-chain change, performance-based sustainability, and cross-sector collaboration. Their roles bolster OP2B’s ability to advocate for a policy environment that rewards outcome-based approaches, supports landscape-scale collaboration, and provides farmers with predictable incentives to adopt nature-positive practices. As CAP reform progresses through 2026, OP2B will leverage this leadership transition to harmonize its corporate membership, mobilize evidence from landscape projects, and push for a policy architecture capable of tripling today’s rate of regenerative adoption.

Under the new Co-Chairs, OP2B will continue engaging European institutions, national governments, and financial actors to ensure the next CAP—and related initiatives like the Carbon Removals and Carbon Farming (CRCF) and Nature Credits Roadmap—supports profitable farming models that regenerative natural capital and secure resilient value chains. The coalition’s cross-sector membership and proven track record position it to contribute constructively to policy discussions, bridging market-driven initiatives with regulatory frameworks needed to deliver systemic change in Europe’s agriculture and nature conservation.

Comment from Incoming Co-Chair Jan Derck van Karnebeek: “Joining OP2B as Co-Chair is an honor. The drive to expand nutrition access while regenerating soils and mitigating climate impact is strong at FrieslandCampina under our purpose of ‘Nourishing by nature.’ Farming in harmony with nature is essential not only for the planet but for the long-term resilience of our member farmers and the communities we serve. I look forward to collaborating with Peter and the OP2B members to scale nature-positive practices across value chains and contribute to a more sustainable food system.”

Comment from Incoming Co-Chair Ewan Andrew: “Taking on the Co-Chair role at OP2B is a privilege, especially at a moment when bold collaboration across the food and beverage sector is crucial for scaling regenerative agriculture. Businesses and farmers must work together to make this transition practical, consistent, and economically viable. At Diageo, OP2B is seen as a catalyst for aligning action across value chains, and I’m eager to help drive tangible, nature-positive solutions that strengthen biodiversity and build resilience in global supply chains.”
