Pfannenstiel, who will be working alongside interim manager Peter Leven, is taking the lead in finding a new boss. "You have six months to show yourselves," Pfannenstiel stated to the club media, "to prove you deserve to wear the badge, that you want to be an Aberdeen player, and that you're willing to work for it." "If we're just showboating and not putting in the effort, if the intensity isn't there, then we need to make changes." Pfannenstiel continued. The message is clear: the team needs to be more focused and dedicated.

"Will there be big changes coming in the future? 100%. Our squad is too big. The first move is to cut the squad, move a few players out, and add quality in one or two positions with players who can make an immediate impact. When it comes to the search for a new manager, Pfannenstiel revealed that the candidates include "some big names, some surprising names, and some terrible names, from all nationalities."
